About Murano Glass:
The raw material for our creations is high-quality colored glass from Murano, Italy. The island of Murano, located in the Venetian lagoon, boasts a rich tradition of glassmaking that dates back to 1291. In that year, the Venetian government, concerned about the risk of fires from the glass furnaces, ordered all glassmakers to move their operations to Murano. This relocation transformed the small island into one of the world’s most renowned centers of glassmaking.
Murano glass is celebrated globally for its unparalleled quality and an exquisite range of colors. The vibrant hues and clarity of Murano glass are the result of centuries of refined craftsmanship and innovation, which continue to inspire awe and admiration among glassmakers worldwide. Each piece of Murano glass carries with it a legacy of artistic excellence, making it the perfect material for our meticulously crafted creations at Exile Creations Pvt Ltd.
Glass Bead making process
Glass beads are meticulously crafted through a process known as lampworking, which involves heating a rod of glass in a flame and winding it around a mandrel to shape the bead. At Exile Creations Pvt Ltd, we begin by preparing a mandrel, dipping it into bead release and allowing it to dry. With a focus on quality and precision, we use a 2.4mm mandrel as a starting size for beginners. Once the mandrel is ready, we take a rod of glass and gently warm the tip in the flame, rotating it for even heating. When a pea-sized molten ball of glass is formed, we continue to heat until it glows, ensuring the glass is in its molten state. This molten glass is then carefully wound around the mandrel, creating the desired shape of the bead, around the same time the required design is added to the bead. After all this, the bead is cooled and polished to achieve a smooth finish. Through our dedication to craftsmanship and innovation, we produce glass beads that are not only beautiful but also of the highest quality, perfect for jewellery and decorative items.

Our Story
At Exile Creations Pvt Ltd, our story is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose. Founded in January 2012 by Mr. Kalden Chophel and Mr. Ngawang Tsultrim, our company is a testament to the resilience and creativity of our founders. Born from a vision of two Tibetans who sought refuge and hope not only for themselves but also for their people and driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference, we embarked on a mission to create exquisite glass artistry that celebrates craftsmanship and innovation.
Mr. Chophel was trained in glass bead making under the guidance of Lise Aagaard, founder of Trollbeads, a renowned Danish jewelry company. This ignited his passion for glass art.
Team
Initially, Exile Creations was founded with the aim of providing sustainable employment opportunities for Tibetan youth, most of whom who left their families in Tibet and were surviving alone. Over time, our mission expanded to include young people from remote villages, marginalized communities, and differently-abled individuals. Today, our diverse workforce is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Since our inception, we have trained and provided employment to around 150 artisans from the Tibetan community and 25 artisans from the larger community. As of today, 28 artisans earn their livelihoods as part of the Exile Creations family.
